A mix of pop punk and twee pop and...Architecture in Helsinki...might not sound instantly apealing, but my god, this delivers. The catchiest songs I've ever heard, with great playing and arranging.

Sprawling, but concise. Majestic, but down to earth. As for the sound, think of every indie rock band you love, combined. Pixies, Pavement, Built to Spill, Sonic Youth, the Wrens. Of course, great bands are not made simply by combining influences - CEG have a sound completely their own.

One of the only albums classified as "emo" that I like. Beautiful production, and melodic, well written songs.

Post rock has long had the reputation of being boring and inaccessible. The solution: listen to Explosions in the Sky. Most bands with vocals never aproach this level of emotion.

Ida Maria has given us a great poppy punkish record. Her voice is what seals the deal for me. It's like Janis Joplin singing Buzzcocks songs.

The best hardcore punk band. Though initially their songs seem to be devoid of melody, for a band whos vocals are all shouted, Minor Threat's songs are very catchy.
