The Bear shows are brilliant! Lovely, easy to sing music. Gentle, nurturing main character. Complicated enough plots and sets to keep the grownups interested. Females in powerful roles but they don't make them "girly." Here, Luna and Ojo are distinguished as female by their voices, not by pink clothes and bows in their hair.

Men who dance and sing are a good example for kids! The original group was composed of Early Childhood Ed. majors who put on a show as a project. You can tell they truly understand children. If your child wants to dress as a Wiggle, just get the appropriately colored T-shirt. In addition to writing original songs, they feature performers from Hawaii, Japan and other out of Australia locales.

I've read studies (NOT paid for by Blues Clues) which suggest that the left to right format helps children learn pre-reading skills. Blue's Big Holiday contains the best pre-school descriptions of Kwanzaa, Chanukkah and Christmas I've ever seen.

This series shows adults and kids playing and singing together, very helpful for new or self-concious parents. Moving Together is my favorite because it has ordinary-looking parents instead of model-size. Also features a child with Down Syndrome.
